Thank you Reception for Emily Baker! Emily Baker has been a wonderful addition to the staff at Grace Church. She has worked hard throughout the last year creating and bringing structure to our Children’s ministry. By doing so our children have been able to experience the authenticity of the gospel through Children’s Church, Sunday School and Shout Out Music time! We are deeply thankful for her contribution to our church. Please join us as we honor Emily. We will be having a reception tonight after the service.

Every Sunday morning, Grace Church wants families to be blessed and children to be welcome. We want children to love learning about Jesus, His church and how to worship Him. Here are some ways your children can be involved:
Sunday School 10:30-11:00 (ages 3-12). This is a relaxed time to allow your child to get a donut or drink and join children their age in a classroom upstairs. Their teachers will help prepare their minds for worship – reminding them why they have come to church. A short lesson will be taught, but fellowship and preparation for church is the focus.
Infant and Toddler Nursery is offered the entire service beginning at 10:45 for children 6 weeks-3 years old. Toddler
Sunday school is a special story time in the nursery for children 18 months-3 years old.
Children's church is offered during the sermon for children ages 4-9. The focus of CC is what we call “worship training.” The students will work through a worship bulletin made up of icons and easy words. They will participate with an order of worship, including things like: God Calls us to Worship, We Give Our Offering to God, We Talk to God in Prayer and We hear Gods Word. Hearing God’s Word will be from to the Jesus Storybook Bible. During the 2009-2010 school year, the children will learn this bible from cover to cover in chronological order.
‘Shout-Out’ Sunday will resume in September!
Setting Summer Goals for your children: Each summer, school-aged children in our family fill a poster board full of summer goals – with a reward if accomplished! (If they ever use the words, “I’m bored” then they know they will hear, “Go look at your summer goals!” We use four categories: Physical, Spiritual, Educational and Entertainment: Each category has three goals that are attainable and easy to track. A physical goal may be to learn to ride a bike, jump rope, complete swim lessons or a sports camp. A Spiritual Goal may be to read the bible 10 minutes for 5 days a week or memorize a certain amount of bible verses. An Educational goal may be to complete the Library Summer Reading program or complete a math workbook. Entertainment – well that is where the kids get to choose and the reward is the goal itself – like going to Fort fun or a trip to the zoo. But as Grace’s Children’s Director, here are a few resources that may be helpful for setting Spiritual goals. Blessings - Emily Baker
“My ABC Bible Verses” by Susan Hunt – have your child memorize the letters and verses of his/her name! 2. “Big Truths for Little Kids” by Susan Hunt helps children learn the catechism – each story explains about four questions. Two or three stories a week would get you through the book in a summer. 3. Kids church just completed the entire “Jesus Storybook Bible” by Sally Lloyd-Jones. It would be a great review to read through it again. 4. Lastly, for older readers, the bible most accurate to the real bible yet with easier vocabulary is “The Child’s Story Bible” by Catherine F. Vos. A great summer goal would be to read the entire New Testament (115 pages) written in chronological order.
Sunday School for all ages beginning September 12th at 4pm—We will offer adult and children’s classes. We are presently needing volunteers for Children’s Sunday School. For more information please email scott@gracefc.net
Membership Seminar — If you are interested in becoming a member of Grace or you want to learn more about Grace Church’s theology, vision and mission please email Michelle McHugh at admin@gracefc.net. This seminar will be offered during the Sunday School hour beginning at 4 pm, September 19. Particularization and Organization of Grace Church — Over the next few months we will be presenting the qualified candidates who have been going through leadership training and who feel called to lead in the role of elder and/or deacon. It will be very important for members of Grace Church to begin to read through 1 Timothy and Titus to prayerfully consider who it is that God is raising up to serve the Grace Church family. Our goal will be to have a particularization service in November. The process goes as follows. 1. An invitation to all men for Officer training (this was offered fall of 2009) 2. Officer Training (Training began in November 2009 and the candidates spend this time in prayer and examine their own hearts for this calling) 3. Petition for Organization to our Presbytery (we are presenting in the process). 4. Examination and qualification of candidates (profession of faith, desire for leadership, theology, and have a gospel heart to lead) 5. Candidates presented before the church to be voted on by the members of the congregation (beginning of October). 6. Thirty days after the presentation the members of the church spend the 30 days praying and considering who God is raising up based on 1 Timothy and Titus. 7. Vote 8. Particularization service installing new elders/deacons and pastor.
